Selanne should Duck out, join a contender
As much as GM Bob Murray has insisted Selanne won’t be dealt, it’s going to be up to the veteran whether he stays or goes.
League sources say as many as four teams — the Rangers, Sharks, Bruins and Wings — have all made inquiries into Selanne’s availability with the trade deadline just over a month away on Feb. 27. All are watching to see if Murray decides to make a move with his club mired near the bottom of the Western Conference.
Selanne refuses to rule out change of address
The door is still open for the possibility Teemu Selanne could end this season a Winnipeg Jet.
While Anaheim Ducks GM Bob Murray has said the 41-year-old and Finnish teammate Saku Koivu are the only two untouchables on his squad, Selanne refused to confirm his plan is to end his career with the Ducks or that he’d turn down a chance to be a Jet again.
Who will come after Teemu?
It doesn't appear that the Ducks are going to finish anywhere near the playoffs in yet another "final" season for Teemu Selanne. (Remember, he was thinking about retiring after the Cup season of '07). Selanne doesn't want to go anywhere at the trade deadline and the Ducks won't trade him without his permission. But as we get closer to Feb. 27, what if Selanne gets Stanley fever? Here are some feasible alternatives.

Anaheim Ducks among NHL teams unloading talent
The NHL trade deadline isn't until Feb. 27, but the Sharks played their role in kicking off the unofficial start to trade-speculation season this week.
On hand to watch his team lose 3-1 to San Jose in Anaheim on Wednesday, Ducks general manager Bob Murray - justifiably angry with what that day became a 10-22-6 record - told Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times that only two players on his team aren't on the market.
No, not those two.
Time for Ducks to trade Getzlaf
The Ducks finally completed a trade Tuesday, though the acquisition of someone from the Toronto Marlies is unlikely to save this season.
Perhaps Luca Caputi one day will have an impact here, but, until then, we're still stuck with this.
So now, General Manager Bob Murray needs to make a real deal, a genuinely impactful one, a move that signals the start of reloading for next season because, let's all admit it, this season is a goner.
He needs to trade ... Ryan Getzlaf.
Ducks’ Selanne isn’t ready to consider a trade
Teemu Selanne has dealt with the annual summertime decision of whether to lace up his skates for another NHL season and hasn’t surprised anyone by returning to the Ducks each time.
But with his team possessing a 10-21-6 record and being a near lock at missing the postseason, the franchise icon might have to consider another tough call — whether to ask for a trade to a Stanley Cup contender and leave.
In what could truly be his final season, Selanne skated around the topic of possibly leaving the Ducks on Monday as they returned to practice at Honda Center.
DUCKS FIRE CARLYLE AND NAME BOUDREAU NEW HEAD COACH
The Anaheim Ducks fired coach Randy Carlyle late Wednesday night and hired former Washington coach Bruce Boudreau, who was dismissed by the Capitals just two days earlier.
The Ducks made the abrupt move after beating Montreal 4-1 on Wednesday night for the club's third victory in 19 games, snapping a seven-game skid.
Will desperate Ducks make major trade?
Is it time to press the panic button at Honda Center? Is it time for General Manager Bob Murray to make a major move to shake up — if not break up — the skidding Ducks?
