harvey26 writes "At the moment the defending champ Ducks are sitting 3rd in the pacific division one point behind Dallas and San jose, well dont look now but I think its gonna be another Quacky spring.
YES thats right the Ducks have brought back Teemu Selanne for the rest of the year. I think everyone knew he'd come back the question was when he would i like that he did but is it bad for the game and should the NHL consider a rule forcing a player in this situation to decide sooner?

Re: One for the Money two for the Show (Score: 1) by habswinthecup-again on Monday, January 28 (User Info | Send a Message) | It is good for the Ducks that Teemu is back and I think this will make it a RedWing-Duck final in the West again. As for your last paragraph about the NHL considering a rule to force a player into a quicker decision, I can guarentee that what Neidermayer and Selanne did this year will not be allowed to happen again (and rightfully so).
p.s. the Wings win the West this year, and Rafalski is the key. |

Re: One for the Money two for the Show (Score: 1) by sjconnick on Monday, January 28 (User Info | Send a Message) | If the ducks want to let their star players come and go as they please it is their own damn business. They are a professional team, what does it matter if their players play the entire 82 games or not? Its their loss as a team not having those players for half the season isn't that punishment enough? If the ducks want to wait until game 7 of the finals to bring back selanne they have the right to do so.
It's no different then lemieux retiring and returning, or forsberg being injured and returning, or simon being suspended and returning, or the bertuzzi incident. if a Nhl star can break somebodys neck ending their careeer and return to the nhl well then selanne can return when he feels good and ready, he has earned it and the ducks would be foolish to not allow him to do so.
THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL PROVEN ATHLETES WHY IS IT SUCH A BIG DEAL IF THEY ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME DECIDING AND TAKE SOME TIME OFF.

Roger Clemens has ruined sports!!!
Too many guys are taking half seasons off and still making a ton of money doing so. First it was Clemens in baseball...then Michael Strahan in football.....then Scott Neidemeyer and Teemu Selanne in hockey. I see this being a bad trend in sports and must be stopped as soon as possible. If you're not willing to go through a whole season like a few hundred other players are then there is no place for you in the league...period.
Let me know your feelings.... |

Re: One for the Money two for the Show (Score: 1) by Kyleton on Monday, January 28 (User Info | Send a Message) | The only one the NHL should have a problem with is Scott Niedermayer as he was actually under contract and choose not to start the season. Teemu, Cujo and Foppa are free agents so they have a choice, but with Niedermayer the NHL should take issue with because he is not fulfilling a contract he signed.
The only reason people are having problems with this is because it was two players on the defending champs team. If it was just Teemu deciding not a single person would care.

I'd rather have an NHL with Niedermeyer and Selanne playing in the playoffs than a league without them.
Leafs fans should be loving this because I guarantee this will ignite an arms race in the West.
Look for Anaheim, Detroit, and Vancouver to start the bidding for Sundin.
