 | Ryder a good fit with the Thrashers? |
Ajc.com is speculating that the Atlanta Thrashers could be one of the teams interested in Michael Ryder.
Although the Thrashers are presently set at right wing with both Recchi and Hossa it is speculated that if the Thrashers were to move Hossa then Ryder may be a good right winger to have. HTR believes that given the right cir*****stances Ryder will be able to rejuvenate his career. Atlanta may be a good fit for the firmer 30 goal scorer. Re: Ryder a good fit with the Thrashers? (Score: 1) by habsoverserver on Tuesday, February 05 (User Info | Send a Message) | | if tthe Thrashers move Hossa and still have playoff aspirations, they could trade Perrin to montreal for Ryder. this would give them a legit second line wing and montreal would get the faceoff winner they need. |

Re: Ryder a good fit with the Thrashers? (Score: 1) by morrissey on Tuesday, February 05 (User Info | Send a Message) | Don Waddell was in Montreal on the weekend. Take if for what it's worth - Pierre Mcguire speculated on the radio that Atlanta was not looking at Ryder at all but that Montreal was very interested in Hossa. He was very insistent that this was absolutely the case. But you can decide/discuss that amongst yourselves - no doubt Montreal does have the assets to put together a nice package of youth in return for a star player of Hossa's calibre.

He has stated that repeatedly that he wants to be in a hockey town. Monteal looks to be a good fit?...why not? Hossa would be playing with Koivu. He would actually have a #1 center to play with unlike in Atlanta where they are to weak down the middle and on Defense. I would put a deal together like this.
Ryder/Dandenault/Boullion/2nd Round pick
For:
Hossa/Dupuis/Late pick... |

Re: Ryder a good fit with the Thrashers? (Score: 1) by habsrock99 on Tuesday, February 05 (User Info | Send a Message) | What people need to remember about Ottawa back when Hossa played there, the ENTIRE team disappeared when it came Play-Off time. Everyone except Patrick Lalime(Career 1.77GAA in the Play-Offs). And, as far as Hossa goes, he hasn't been as bad as people seem to think. These are Hossa's Play-Off numbers:
Year Team GP G A Pts 98-99 Ott 4 0 2 2 99-00 Ott 6 0 0 0 00-01 Ott 4 1 1 2 01-02 Ott 12 4 6 10 02-03 Ott 18 5 11 16 03-04 Ott 7 3 1 4 06-07 Atl 4 0 1 1 55 13 22 35
May not be the greatest numbers but they sure are respectable. Not to mention he has more Play-Off experience then 3/4's of our current Roster. The only players with more are Kovalev, Smolinski, Dandenault, Brisebois and Hamrlik. Of the rest of the team only Koivu has more then 40 and everone else has between 0-29 games experience. |

Re: Ryder a good fit with the Thrashers? (Score: 1) by ChyldProdigy on Tuesday, February 05 (User Info | Send a Message) | It may be that Ryder would fit well in Atlanta but NOT for Hossa. All the above posts saying 'Ryder + Junk plus 2nd round for Hossa' are ridiculous. IF Hossa even gets traded at the deadline it will be because the Thrashers are out of contention OR because they feel that they might lose Hossa for nothing to UFA. And if that happens he will be one of the most sought after players on the market and I guarantee that you can START with a 1st rounder + good prospect and work your way up from there. Ask yourself: If Atlanta is moving Hossa because they are afraid of losing him for nothing, why would they take on Ryder (UFA after this season) and risk losing HIM for nothing? In conclusion, Ryder is a good fit for the Thrashers long-term. Either a minor trade for a bag of pucks happens or ATL snags him in the off-season.
