 | Anaheim Ducks - Forsberg and Blake News |
The LA Times and Brian Burke are quashing speculation that Peter Forsberg has any intentions to go the Ducks.
It is reported that the Ducks were interested in Forsberg but that Forsberg has rules out the Ducks as a possible destination. Another hot tid bit from this article is that the Ducks are also downplaying recent reports that they are interested in the Kings Rob Blake. Although it is well known that Brian Burke would not “really” say if he was interested in Blake he decided to go on record as saying that there is nothing to the report that the Ducks were hot after Blake. Re: Anaheim Ducks - Forsberg and Blake News (Score: 1) by Kamakaze on Tuesday, February 12 (User Info | Send a Message) | Trading for Blake just doesn't make any sense to me.
They would have to trade either a young player or a forward. I think both of those are commodities that are just much more valuable than anything Blake, at this point in his career, could provide them, especially considering the depth and range of their defense already arguably the best in the league.
They would do much better in trying to swap Weight for someone young and skilled to run their 2nd line, or maybe swap some prospects around, but that's about it. They have a pretty good team, there isn't much they can do right now without seriously damaging their future. |

Re: Anaheim Ducks - Forsberg and Blake News (Score: 1) by wingerxxx on Tuesday, February 12 (User Info | Send a Message) | Think of it this way...considering the king's ransom that it just might take to acquire Blake this year, given how many other teams will be wanting him...at best, Blake would be their 4th defenseman. That is ridiculous. He would be getting second unit power play time, and more than likely, hardly play on the PK in Anaheim. Anaheim just has too many other needs to bother with Blake. Really, the only reason for the Ducks to go after him, is to get a big name to fill in seats.
The only teams that should be after Blake are teams that badly need offense from the blueline. And yes, that includes the Rangers. |
