Hockey is the game canadians can't seem to get enough of. It's like an addiction similar to playing the spin palace casino games. But most importantly it is down to the loyalty as a fellow canadian to follow the country's number 1 sport!
 | Max Afinogenov to Colorado? |
ncAvalanche21 writes "The Buffalo News reports that the Colorado Avalanche are interested in Buffalo winger Maxim Afinogenov.
It is then speculated that Forward Marek Svatos could be headed in the opposite direction, although they also say that the Avs may want to deal him for a goaltender (i.e. Halak, Khabibulin, Huet)
Svatos for Afinogenov straight up? Maybe. Look for Tyler Arnason to be involved as well. The Sabres could use a center and Arnason is on the outs with Avs fans.
From article:
"Max headed west? Usually it takes about 20 games for teams to evaluate their rosters before working the phones, but it didn’t stop the beloved NHL rumor mill from warming up. Among the recent subjects is none other than Maxim Afinogenov, the talented but enigmatic Sabres winger. There are whispers he could wind up in Colorado. Avalanche President Pierre Lacroix has been a longtime Afinogenov admirer. Talented winger Marek Svatos, a healthy scratch already this season, appears to have one skate in the doghouse. He’s also coming off surgery to repair a torn ACL, but he has two years and only $4.1 million remaining on his contract. Afinogenov, who is making $3.5 million in the final year of his deal, could thrive in the West until teams learn how to defend him. Svatos would give the Sabres another scoring threat on the right side. He had 32 goals and 50 points as a rookie, 15 goals and 30 points in 2006-07 and 26 goals and 37 points last season. The Avs also could try wheeling Svatos for a proven goaltender. Nikolai Khabibulin is available but comes with a $6.75 million salary. Colorado would need to make another move to create room under the cap."

Other Avs rumors: The Denver Post speculates that the Avs have defencemen Brett Clark and Jordan Leopold on the trade block. Click on the links for more info. Clark to Montreal for G Jaroslav Halak Leopold to Ottawa for F Antoine Vermette
These trades will likely never happen, but look for at least one of the two d-men to be moved at some point this season. "

No one in the NHL has has more scoring chances than Antione --- or has botched more scoring chances.
As positive, this year Vermie managed to not trip over the blueline for 6 consecutive games,bBeating his previous best of 2. |

This guy hasn't shown anything interesting in the NHL. He's not a #1, but he will come cheaper than anyone else..

To Colorado : Maxim Afinogenov, Henrik Tallinder
To Buffalo : Brett Clark, Tyler Arnason, Marek Svatos
Colorado gets a good stay-at-home (they lack one), and an underachiever to take Svatos' place
Buffalo gets a puck-mover (they lack it badly) and an underachiever to take Afinogenov's place. Arnason, we don't care, it's only a salary shed. |

How about Halak, O'byrne, Dandenault and Latendresse for Leopold, Laperierre and 2009 first rounder?
