Hockey is the game canadians can't seem to get enough of. It's like an addiction similar to playing the spin palace casino games. But most importantly it is down to the loyalty as a fellow canadian to follow the country's number 1 sport!

Lightning a real mess? - Could lead to a Lecavailer Deal?

NHL commissioner Gary Bettman has a new problem: The Tampa Bay Lightning, owned by two squabbling partners who have different visions for the beleaguered NHL franchise.

One owner -- former player Len Barrie -- wants to keep team captain Vincent Lecavalier and dip into the free agent market for more help.

The other -- movie producer Oren Koules -- is determined to move Lecavalier and stop the financial bleeding.

Bettman, according to the St. Petersburg Times, is meeting with both owners in New York this morning, hoping to sort out the mess.

If I had the chance to land either Tavares or Hedman and I already have last years #1 proving he can score in the NHL, then I would trade Vinny for more young talent.  These are a few of the trades that make sense...
EDM aquire Lecavailer for Cogliano, Smid, Pouliot, and 10th overall pick.
The Lighting add some more good young talent and aquire a high draft pick to maybe pick up Ryan Ellis.
MTL aquires Lecavalier and Ryan Malone for Halak, Latendresse, and both Kostitsyns.
The Lighting pick up a good young goalie to platoon with Smith, a gritty 3rd (possible 2nd) line winger and 2 potencial stars in the flying Kostitsyns.  THe habs get their franchise player for the next 11 years, but they need to absord a hefty contract with Malone.  Malone does have an upside and could be a 30 goal guy in MTL that brings toughness every night.

Wow, wouldn't it be hilarious if they presented Bettman with a contract of sale for the Lightning to Ballsilie?  Man I would laugh!

This is why the NHL should only allow sales to one strong (in financial sense) person. Or at least only allow one major controlling party or person to mediate between the two.  Look at all the trouble that is caused by teams with multiple owners. Half the time they don't actually have the money they invested, or they just can't get along and it screws up the franchise.

In my opinion I think it may be time for the lightning to move Vinny, and St. Louis.  They are a much younger team and can add a lot of young assets to the club and you can start over.  Just think of the solid return of good young guys you could get for these two.
