 | Trade Rumors: will Vinny Lecavalier ask to be traded? |
Get him going - one way or the other Tampa’s continued (and not unexpected) mediocrity had ex-Bruin Rick Tocchet, the Lightning bench boss, questioning the passion of some of his charges, including captain Vinny Lecavalier. “He has to show us that’s he’s ready to play,’’ said Tocchet, disillusioned that the franchise center has only potted three goals this season.
Meanwhile, star-in-the-making Steve Stamkos, only 19 years old, carried 12 goals into last night’s game at Montreal. Tocchet is right; the Bolts need more out of their franchise center, but it also could be that the coach’s words are a way to prompt Lecavalier to reach for his “Get Out Of Jail Free’’ card (surrender his no-trade clause, which activated July 1) and bring the financially-shaky franchise $7.727 million in annual cap relief.

Re: will Vinny Lecavalier ask to be traded? (Score: 1) by cam7777 on Sunday, November 08 (User Info | Send a Message) | | Vinny, for your own sake, leave Tampa! The organization has soured you, and reduced you to being a living, walking advertisement for spray-on tans. Waive your no-trade-clause, and go to a team that has at least something resembling a fanbase that can push you. It's the Stamkos show in Tampa now.... |

They have the talent to surround him and give up to make the deal. It would also make them a legit playoff contender. They have everything Tampa needs to make the deal. |

Re: will Vinny Lecavalier ask to be traded? (Score: 1) by mojo19 on Sunday, November 08 (User Info | Send a Message) | Not many teams would take that contract. $10 million per year until he's 36 years old, then goes down in the last 4 years.
and if he doesn't retire at age 37 or 38, you could end up with a $7.5 million cap hit on a player who maybe is only as good as a Bill Guerin, or Mike Modanno (now), or think of any other former star player who is getting up there in years. Are any of them worth that kind of money? |

Re: will Vinny Lecavalier ask to be traded? (Score: 1) by KingCanada on Sunday, November 08 (User Info | Send a Message) | To LA: Vincent Lecavalier
To TB: Michael Handzus, Brayden Schenn, Thomas Hickey, 1st round pick.
Might seem a little steep but we all know Vince is capable of much more, he would have much better linemates on the 2nd unit in LA (Smyth, Williams, Frolov, Brown) and of course would get some PP time with Kopitar and Doughty. |

To Boston : Vinny
To Tampa : Savard ( free up 5M ) + fisrt 2009 + Tor fisrt 2009 |

Re: will Vinny Lecavalier ask to be traded? (Score: 1) by broc on Tuesday, November 10 (User Info | Send a Message) | Tampa owners are probably kicking themselves for not trading Vinny to MTL for that nice prospect package now.
The interest in Vinny right now is probably zero to nil. 10 mil a year for many years... brutal. That kicks out most of the medium/small market teams from even looking Vinny's way.
Maybe they could do a straight trade for Gomez!!! LOL
