number15 writes "Forbes just released its latest value rankings for NHL teams. no big surprise except that Chicago is all the sudden a powerhouse again. Leafs are still way ahead of the pack though and Rangers out due the Habs.....

National Hockey League had its most profitable year in 2008-2009 and team values rose $3 million to an average of $223 million despite a recession that curbed fan and sponsor spending, Forbes magazine said.

1- Toronto Maple Leafs
2- New York Rangera
3- Montreal Canadiens
4- Detroit Red Wings
5- Philadelphia Flyer

............... Leafs are worth $470 Million, way ahead of the competition. Second place Rangers are woth $416 million

Does anyone else find it odd that on the year that the NHL apparently made the most profit, they decide to raise the cap by only a couple hundred thousand dollars?
Think they are trying to spend less to make more money?
