 | Savard visits specialist, likely done for year |
Fluto Shinzawa After a meeting with a neuropsychological specialist yesterday at Massachusetts General Hospital showed little progress in his condition, Marc Savard will most likely miss the rest of the season, according to Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli.
Savard visited Dr. Kelly McInnis, who confirmed that the center has shown little improvement since Sunday, when he suffered a Grade 2 concussion at the hands of Pittsburgh’s Matt Cooke. Savard’s symptoms include sleep disruption, dizziness, sensitivity to light, nausea, and difficulty concentrating.
“Not certain that he’ll miss the rest of the year, but I’d say it’s up there as far as probable,’’ Chiarelli said.
If Savard’s season is over, the 32-year-old center will finish with 10 goals and 23 assists in 41 games. He sat out 24 games because of a broken foot and a partial MCL tear.
Chiarelli has sent Savard text messages but has not talked to him yet.
All quiet — for now After watching the hit on Savard Sunday, the Bruins thought they could at least take solace that the Penguins’ rabble-rouser would face discipline from the NHL.
“Definitely the league will take care of it,’’ coach Claude Julien said after that afternoon’s 2-1 loss. “You have to trust that they’ll make the right decision. It was a blind-side hit to the head. That’s exactly what we’re trying to get rid of.’’

On a side note; how much do the Bruins miss Kessel? Bruins top scorer is Bergeron (14-29-43) Leafs 2nd leading scorer (after away trading 6 forwards) - Kessel (23-22-45).
Just wanted to point that out for all Bruins and Leaf fans still poking fun/sulking over last summers trade. We can spend the next 2-5 yrs debating who "won" the trade but you to understand that even if it took just 1 pick (instead of 3) to land Kessel ...it would have been the Leafs 1st overall pick in 2010. The Bruins have just been lucky that the Leafs got off to that 1-11-2 start and never managed to climb out. Since then the the Buds have been 21-22-10 which is 52 points out of a possible 108 ... thats just under .500 hockey. Not bad for a no talent team....no? |

Good to see Lecavalier speak out the way he did too. I think the NHL missed the boat on this one. I just hope we don't have another Bertuzzi/Moore situation thats all. |

At the rate he is scoring now, assuming he kept up that pace, he would have some very impressive numbers.
For instance, if he played as many games as rookie leader Matt Duchene, he would have 5 points more than him. At this pace. Also, at his PPG, he would outscore say...Patrice Bergeron, if they played the same amount of games. Obviously Bozak plays on a better offensive team, and plays with a world class goal scorer, but he has been dynamite lately.
He is a faceoff whiz, a good play maker, and has a nose for the net.
IMO, he is going to be the perfect 2nd line center who can chip in 60 odd points per year.

Re: Savard visits specialist, likely done for year (Score: 1) by leafy on Sunday, March 14 (User Info | Send a Message) | If I was Burke, I'd do what I can to get Lecavalier. Tampa's salary cap situation is precarious and the time is ripe.
The Leafs will be something like $12-15 million under the cap in the summer, depending on what they do with Finger.
Would you rather spend the money on 3 so-called "solid" players, or on Lecavalier?
I'd take the superstar any day. Imagine having Bozak and Lecavalier up the middle. The Leafs would be back in business.
