Hockey is the game canadians can't seem to get enough of. It's like an addiction similar to playing the spin palace casino games. But most importantly it is down to the loyalty as a fellow canadian to follow the country's number 1 sport!

HTR Feature Article: Habs buried in nightmare on Broad Street

Canadiens blank
There was no magic in goaltender Jaroslav Halak’s game Sunday night as he gave up four goals on 13 shots and the Philadelphia Flyers went on to beat the Canadiens 6-0 in Game 1 of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference final.

Halak was pulled after Philadelphia scored three times in the first 9:53 of the second period to take a 4-0 lead.

But there’s no reason to believe that Halak won’t be the starter in Game 2 Tuesday night (7 p.m., CBC, RDS, CJAD-Radio-800). Halak gave way to Carey Price after he surrendered five goals on 20 shots in the opening game of the semifinal series against Pittsburgh. The Canadiens lost that game 6-3, but Halak returned two nights later to make 38 saves as Montreal beat Pittsburgh, 3-1.

James van Riemsdyk took advantage of a misplay by rookie defenceman P.K. Subban to make the score 2-0 at the 30-second mark of the second period. Brian Gionta won a draw in the Canadiens’ zone, but the puck went through Subban’s legs and van Riemsdyk muscled the puck past Halak.

Penalties led to the next two goals. Daniel Brière scored on a shot to the far post at 4:23. While it wasn’t technically a power-play goal, it came a second after Maxim Lapierre finished serving a two-minute penalty for roughing.

The Flyers scored their second power-play goal of the game at 9:53 when Simon Gagné scored on a screened shot from the faceoff circle.

Scott Hartnell added a goal at 12:13 of the third period and Claude Giroux completed the rout at 13:26.

Game 2 is key. The Habs can go out in 4 straight OR they can win the series. Game 2 will tell us if they are capable of giving Philly a series. Don`t be fooled by Game 1 alone!

Holy crap! Another shutout for Leighton.

First Flyers goalie to get back-to-back playoff shutouts since the great Bernie Parent.

Montreal is dead. They got no chance to beat the Flyers in this series.

The third goal on Halak is one of the weakest goals I've ever seen scored on a goalie. For as many games as he steals he's lost these two games for the Canadiens. Maybe going to Price wouldn't be a bad option.

think its time to sit both kostitsyns and put back in obyrne and pouliot.

go with 7 D and have bergeron on the 4th line with darche and maybe maxwell back in for mets as max is 6'1 194 lbs adding just a bit more size. and its not like they'll get tons of ice time. but....you could roll in darche and max with the other guys like G and G or cammy and pleks.

pouliot would go back with G and G, cammy would join pleks and put on lapierre to add grit.

moore, moen and pyatt would be the 3rd unit.

subban hamrlik
spacek obyrne
gorges gill

they need some D with mroe pushback and obyrne has the size that helps.

halak of course stays in goal.

putting gill on the PP may be a stretch but at least its a net presence. maybe instead though hamrlik in front with pleks sliding back to the point with spacek.

have hammy be the net presence with cammy in the slot and perhaps laps down low for puck battles.

6'3 pouliot best find himself there on the other unit if he wants to play.
