Hockey is the game canadians can't seem to get enough of. It's like an addiction similar to playing the spin palace casino games. But most importantly it is down to the loyalty as a fellow canadian to follow the country's number 1 sport!

 MystifoLeafs writes "As I gaze over any sports article I see a pattern that being if the word Kaberle or any player is on a trading block then we Toronto fans jump at the opportunity to give our ideas of how we value you kaberle as the best puck moving d man in the league and that we can get a arm and a leg for him. But as a leaf fan and I gave my own idea of what I have seen happen and being the hypocrite that I am i figure i would set the record straight about some of these ideas. Lets start at the most talked about one....
- Kabby for Bobby Ryan
Therese reasons why this would not work and there pretty simple reasons too the first one being that the ducks would not be looking at acquiring Kaberle at this price seeing how they drafted Cam Fowler this year and they would only want him as a rental, pretty high price for a rental don't you think? Also there is the cap reason if you check closely cap geek says were only a mill over even with the burying of finger we get 4 mill, and yes I know with the trading of kabby that would free up some mill but you look we still have to resign Hanson it is possible but still the first reason sort of puts a halt to this trade immediately
2.Kabby for Spezza
Not one that was talked about as much as the one above but still a impossible one to say the least. Few reasons it does not work is the fact that Ottawa sort of got a better version of Kaberle (Yes I am a leafs fan and Gonchar is better.) so why would they want another one? Plus theirs the factor of Spezzas 6 mill i think cap hit be pretty hard to manage for Toronto.
3. Kabby for Carter
This one is the one I thought could very well happen at draft day but I was oh so very wrong. Sure this solves the Leafs problems but does it help the flyers? No im sorry it does not, sure look at their D at the moment Pronger, Timonien, Carle, Mezaros shall I go on? I know i was crushed when they traded with Tampa too but hey we can always try to swoop in next free agent frenzy and take him. :)
- Kabby for Schenn and Simmonds
Ok this is one that just made me laugh a lot and quite frankly it was just ob surd for this to even be mentioned but hey dumb man makes dumb move again... The fact is if we got schenn were lucky, If we were to get simmonds then we picked a day when the GM over in LA was tripping on Acid or smoked some pretty awesome dope but for the thought of Schenn and Simmonds to come over for kaberle well quite frankly no pun intended but I don't think there is a Sutter running LA. (Sorry Darrel I love the package of Pheneuf and Aullie shame though seems as if White wont be with you.)
- Kabby For Malkin
Ok another dumb trade I heard about some poor leaf soul, the fact of the matter is even though the beloved pens lost their knight in shining armour they sort of replaced him with 2 good guys (Funny they needed 2 guys to do what he did so great, not 1 but 2.) Martin and Michalek are good but they are no kaberle but Malkin will not be in the blue and white (Unless pens us their blue jerseys.) Also Pens sort of said there is no way their moving him.
So even though these trades are ob surd there are still some good ones out there and the idea of kaberle being traded seems to be a big thing personally I don't want him traded I want to see him end his career in a Leafs Jersey but I doubt he wants to sign back with us. The point of this article was not to discourage the idea of him being traded as bad it was to make a point that I am a leafs fan but please don't be a blind foolish fan and say Kaberle is amazing and is worth Crosby or Ryan.

Lets face facts: If Kabbie is traded we will never get back what he is worth. He is a classy guy who has the ability to set the tempo. He makes players around him better and gets very little credit. Everyone talks about puck moving d'men, however know talks about how cool this guy is under pressure. The reason he can move the puck is because he can create time and space, not only for himself, but his teammates. If he is traded for "Super Star A, B or C" I hope they are good at the dump and chase game or can catch pucks in his teeth as Captain Dion wires it off the glass and calls it puck moving. With all the young talent we have in our line up this coming fall, it only makes sense to keep Kabs in town. I believe deep down most leafs fans feel the same and it probably accounts for the majority of the "Super Sized" trade rumors…Kabie Stays………! |

(User Info | Send a Message) | It looks very much like kaberle will not be traded. If he was going to be traded, he simply would have been by now. Either at the draft or soon after the big UFA Defensemen fish were signed.
Who is truly willing to give up a top forward at this point in the game? The Leafs should look at trading another D to a cap deficient team (like NYI) for next to nothing. For example, Komisarek or Beauchemin.
With the cash they could then sign a guy like Kariya or Frolov to a one year deal.
The other side, is that Gonchar went for 5.5 mil over 3 years, so Kaberle could probably get about 6 mil per over a 3 year extension, which is a good number.

So we can add another 40 goal scorer Burke has zero interest in and for what? Clowe? Semin is a player you can build an entire line around but instead Burke is hoping for a guy who is questionably a top six player?
At what point does lack of impactful forward become an issue?

Burke is back from his holiday this week and will no doubt push those who have made offers for Kaberle to make better offers.
There's a good chance however that Kaberle will remain a Leaf.

So now it's official. We gave up Luongo for nothing, zero, nada, zilch, zip!

Now this is what I want to see. Intense rivalry between teams. Just like old time hockey. Instead of head shots, we need to see more of this and some good clean fights.
