I would love to see the old Red, White and Blue back in Winnipeg. Where it belongs! |

Re: Winnipeg Jets in 2005!!! (Score: 1) by silva21 on Friday, July 18 @ 08:24:03 MDT (User Info | Send a Message) | As much as i support canadian hockey, i don't know if another expansion team is what we need to get rid of the depth problem in the league.
If Winnipeg comes into the League after the supposed lockout, sure enough, player salaries would probably be lowered but they still won't be able to compete in the free agent market nor would they be able to keep all their top guns if they develop.
They'll be the next Edmonton Oilers with less support from their fans and probably less talent.
If there was more depth, i'm all for another shot at the winnipeg jets, but the problem is, as thin as the depth is stretched out, another team would seriously not help the league.
I can so see the Jets, ironically going against their name, playing the trap that smaller market teams need to, in order to win because they lack forward depth. |

I'd Love To See This Happen, BUT... (Score: 1) by NJDKev47 on Friday, July 18 @ 09:21:56 MDT (User Info | Send a Message) | | I have no problem with Winnipeg getting the Jets back. Hell, I'd love to see Quebec get a team again too, but expansion is not the way. In order for this to work, the NHL is going to have to move an up-and-comming team to Winnipeg. If they go by means of expansion, they will add on teams to an already over-expanded league. So, in order for the Jets to come back (and I will pray that they do) it will have to be via some other organization. |

The NHL will not go past 30 teams. You'll have to buy a current team and move it to Winnipeg and hope the NHL approves the move of a hockey team TO a small market NHL city which I think is doubtful. |

Re: Winnipeg Jets in 2005!!! (Score: 1) by jofa on Friday, July 18 @ 10:20:59 MDT (User Info | Send a Message) | | Winnipeg is a dying prairie city. An NHL team would never survive there, nor would NHL players want to play in Manitoba. This is coming from a former Manitoban, so I'm not saying this to be an asshole or anything, but Winnipeg is becoming a dead-end, washed up city. How is it supposed to compete in an NHL market? The Jets will never be back in the NHL. Time to let it go. Embrace the Moose. |

Nashville is close to pulling the plug on their dying franchise, and I can't see Florida being in great shape either. Carolina, Phoenix, and Tampa after they miss the playoffs this upcomming year will surely be hot topics to move in the not too distant future. |
