Experts Rumor Update: Leafs Make Trade Offers To Stars And Sabres.

Maple Leafs blankLeaf_Expert writes "HTML:http://insiders3.ezboard.com/ftorontomapleleafsfrm1.showMessage?topicID=4387.topic

The Toronto Maple Leafs being criticized for their lack of movement this summer, but actually have two significant trades purposed to improve the team’s defense.

According to the Fan590, The Leafs are talking to the Dallas Stars on a trade to acquire defensemen Darryl Sydor.

To Toronto: Darryl Sydor

To Dallas: Bryan McCabe and a player to be named later.

The case behind this deal is Robert Svehla not coming back next year and the Leafs looking for a proper replacement for him. Also McCabe is demanding more money from the club, which the Leafs will not due when they can have a proper replacement for that type of money in Sydor.

Also in other fronts, The Leafs have been report by Sportsnet's hockey analyst Nick Kipreos to have made an offer to the Buffalo Sabres for rearguard Alexei Zhitnik.

To Toronto: Alexei Zhitnik, and Jason Jason Botterill

To Buffalo: Alexei Ponikarovsky, Aki Berg And a 2nd round draft pick.

*Experts Look: I don't know how reliable these sources are, but McCabe is a good promising defensemen who could have some wonderful years in Dallas. His contract demands are too much for the Leafs considering the season he had last year. Plus it seems like the Leafs realize the future is now by getting a proven top defensemen and not waiting for McCabe to blossom. As for the Zhitnik trade, Kipreos is pretty accurate on his reports, so I'll give this one credibility. The Sabres want cheaper and younger players, which they are getting. And the Leafs basically solidify their top four defensemen. This should be interesting to see how things unfold in the next couple of days....

PLAYER NEWS
Fredrik Sjostrom, LW/RW
2010/09/02:  Fredrik Sjostrom might be available at the start of training camp after undergoing a shoulder operation this off-season. He is reportedly ahead of schedule in his recovery, but Toronto GM Brian Burke said the team would not rush him back before he is ready. We'll keep you posted on his status, but he has no fantasy value. (Source: Ottawa Sun)
Christian Hanson, RW/C
2010/08/31:  The Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to terms with restricted free agent Christian Hanson. Hanson scored two goals and registered five assists in 31 games last season. He should battle for a spot on Toronto's opening day roster. (Source: Sportsnet.ca)
Clarke MacArthur, LW
2010/08/30:  Leafs GM Brian Burke expects Clarke MacArthur to spend a significant amount of time on one of Toronto's top two lines. MacArthur inked a one-year/$1.1 million deal with the Maple Leafs after Atlanta walked away from an arbitrator awarded one-year/$2.4 million deal. He scored 16 goals and 35 points in 81 games last season, but he still has some offensive upside. If he spends the majority of the season serving as a top-six forward, we think he can score 20-25 goals and 40-50 points. (Source: Toronto Star)
Clarke MacArthur, LW
2010/08/28:  The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Clarke MacArthur to a one-year deal. The contract is worth $1.1 million. Last season MacArthur scored 16 goals and 19 assists in 81 games (split between Buffalo and Atlanta). He will contend for a top-six forward spot withe Maple Leafs. He will be valuable in fantasy pools if he can secure a spot on the Leafs' power play. (Source: TSN.ca)
Matt Lashoff, D
2010/08/27:  Matt Lashoff will join a crowded blueline in Toronto this season after being dealt to the Maple Leafs on Friday for minor-leaguers Alex Berry and Stefano Giliati. He played the majority of last season with the Tampa's AHL affiliate in Norfolk, where he posted eight goals, 24 points and 105 penalty minutes in 68 games. Lashoff will likely begin the 2010-11 campaign in the minors with the Toronto Marlies. (Source: TSN.ca)
Jonas Gustavsson, G
2010/08/21:  Goalie Jonas Gustavsson is doing whatever he can to avoid the dreaded "sophomore jinx". "The second season can be dangerous because not everything is new and exciting in the same way it was (when you are a rookie)," Gustavsson said. "You sometimes have to fight a bit more to find that same energy." The Monster should be more relaxed this year, understanding exactly how North American hockey works. He could be a sleeper pick in fantasy if he can re-gain his Pre-NHL, European form. (Source: Toronto Sun)
Tomas Kaberle, D
2010/08/20:  The father of Maple Leafs' defenseman Tomas Kaberle believes his son will be traded during the 2010-11 season. "I think that during the course of the year he will be traded to another club," said Frantisek Kaberle Sr. "There is only one chance for Toronto to get something back in return for Tomas now. In my opinion, I can't see Tomas entering a new contract with the Toronto. Not if Ron Wilson continues to be employed there ... I cannot imagine how he will get along with coach Wilson, who relies primarily on aggression and stress. That's not Tomas, he's a technical type of defender." If Kaberle does end up being moved then he will have to go to Toronto GM Brian Burke himself with a list of teams because Burke has been steadfast in his claim that he will not ask the offensive rearguard to waive his no-trade clause. Look for stories like this to arise frequently throughout the year. (Source: Calgary Sun)
Tomas Kaberle, D
2010/08/16:  The Toronto Maple Leafs were unable to find a trading partner for Tomas Kaberle prior to his no trade clause taking effect again. "While a number of clubs made offers to trade for Tomas, none of them reflected Tomas's value to our team," said GM Brian Burke in a statement. "I understand a period like this is stressful to the player, and we are pleased that there is a resolution, and we can all continue to prepare for the coming season." If the Leafs want to move Kaberle at some point during the 2010-11 campaign they will need his approval. He has one year left on his current deal with Toronto and could end up walking away as an unrestricted free agent next summer. (Source: TSN.ca)
Tomas Kaberle, D
2010/08/15:  Toronto GM Brian Burke believes that New Jersey and Los Angeles could both have been potential landing spots for Tomas Kaberle if not for the Ilya Kovalchuk contract situation. Burke said "I think both teams that were involved - and I'm not going to say that they are interested or were interested or would be - but I suspect that both teams involved in the Kovalchuk situation would have been more involved in this. The window to trade Kaberle is closing so Burke will need some eleventh hour magic if he's going to deal the defender before midnight on Sunday. (Source: The Bergen Record)
Tomas Kaberle, D
2010/08/13:  Toronto GM Brian Burke is still waiting for an offer to jump on in the ongoing Tomas Kaberle trade talk. "It's too early to say. I know it sounds crazy because the deadline is midnight on Sunday, but the simple fact is we haven't received an offer yet (worth acting on)," said Burke while on Toronto radio station the FAN 590. "We're not going to see everybody's best cards until the last couple of days anyhow, so I'm not surprised we don't have anything that we would take yet, so we'll see what happens." We'll keep you posted, but expect Burke to pull the trigger close to the deadline when he believes the potential offers will improve. (Source: TSN.ca)

There is only one way out of this flurry of leaf information that most of us don't want to see, even some leaf fans that are sick of seeing bullshit posted about their team. So I propose there should be a seperate section of the site. (same format) This part will be for leaf posts/rumors/bullshit/and stories pulled out of the asses of the psychotic leaf fan like that Joey person who was from Cleveland and an hour late for the ralley she set up. In the normal section the intellegent leaf fan will right rumors and news from a legidimate source. All the psychos who don't make sense can fantasize in the new section. That way fans of other teams aswell as leaf fans who don't want to hear stories that probably were pulled from a person on ridalin's ass can listen to ligit rumors and news about other teams aswell as the TML, while the ones with info on how they can fix the leafs can talk in the special newsboard. We will call the normal board HTR and the second board LHTR-SP-ED which stand for Leafs hcoky trade rumours: special education, if you know what I mean.

Now that way everyones happy.

this seems moderately possible since I can't see any other reason the leafs would have kept berg and ponti around.

personally, I hope Pilar comes back up. that dude was money in the playoffs two years ago and early last season before he got offensively minded and started making huge gambles that almost always ended in mistakes.

in any case, I'm glad to see neither Kaberle or Pilar mentioned in the rumours.

More Leaf crap. I have watched Sydor occasionally and to be perfectly honest, I'd rather have McCabe, so I don't really see that happening. That Zhitnik offer I doubt too. Buffalo is not trying to dump payroll since they got their new owner. The owner is a billionaire. If the Leafs wanted Zhitnik cheap should of done it at the trade deadline. I seriously doubt that any of these deals would happen. But hey, as a friend just pointed out, if Cechmanek can be traded for a 2nd rounder, anything can happen.

With all of the holes in the leafs line up why don't they fill those holes before trading. We are missing a lot of forwards and 3 d-men our lines look like this:

Roberts-Sundin-Mogilny
Renberg-Antropov(not resigned)- Nolan
Domi-Reicle-Fitz
Tucker-Green-?

Kaberle-McCabe
Marchment-?
?-?

Those are the regulars we should try and trade Reicle for anything. Renberg for a quality d-man such as Salei. Berg and Ponikarovsky for Zhitnek. Keep McCabe.

Sign Nieuwendyk, Arvedson, Gilmour and Tverdovsky, Todd Warriner

Trade: Gilmour and Tucker for Martin St. Louis because Gilmour will bring leadership to TB and Tucker will bring a physical presence to TB that they desperatly need.

New Lines:

Roberts-Sundin-Mogilny
Arvedson-Nieuwendyk-Nolan
Warriner-Antropov-St.Louis
Domi-Green-Fitzgerald

McCabe-Marchment
Kaberle-Salei
Zhitnek-Tverdovsky

Payroll:
Arvedson 2.2 million
Nieuwendyk 2.5 million
Marchment 2 million
Sundin 9 million
Nolan 4 million
St. Louis 1.9 million
Kaberle 1.75 million
Tverdovsky 3 million
Zhitnek 2.7 million
McCabe 3 million
Mogilny 5.5 million
Roberts 4.1 million
Antropov 1.8 million
Warriner 500 000
Domi 1.68 million
Fitzgerald 1 million
Salei 1 million
Green 2 million
Belfour 6.5 million
Kidd 500 000

That payroll is a little higher at 56.63 million dollars but it would be worth it for the players that we'd have.

ps. Personally I think that Sundin should take a pay cut for the team.

ya know what no one really cares about what the leafs are rumored to be doing.....3 hours i get an update about what the leafs are goign to be doing or what they should be doing...here is my suggestion.

1. The Franchise should move out of toronto.
Its simple, if the fans want to to protest the leafs not making moves the team should protest by not playing infront of the fans.
2.Hire osama and his friends to suicide bomb, all telephone companies, Cable companies and power companies...just have the buildigns evacuted first :)
that way the leaf fans dont lower others opinion of them if that is still a possiblity.

This post and 10 preceeding Leaf posts are a waste of time.

HTR has become Maple Leaf fantasy gossip column and anti-Leaf fan sentiment is certainly on the rise because of it.

I am not saying ban all Leaf related stories, but maybe HTR should post one a week instead of the one redundant story per day we seem to be getting.

Lets ration the irrelevance on this site before the denomination of "Leaf Fan" attains more negative connotations and resentment from the fans of the other 29 teams that HTR is supposed to represent.

I agree that the site does have to cut down on the over posting of Leaf articles...

But you can say, "oh your contributing to the Leafs crap articles". Well this is a rumor, and what I do with my articles is I give a "Rumor Update". I wouldn't have treated this article any different if it were the Devils making these offers or the Thrashers. Its still an unbiased "Rumor Update".

And you members wouldnt be so protest towards all Leaf articles if it werent for all those other biased articles talking about basically how impatient they are with the Leafs and what moves they want them to make. Once again, my article is just a "Rumor Update".

So you should leave alone the articles that actually have meaning, when its really the "I Hate Leafs" or "What the Leafs should DO!" articles that you should be protesting about...

Also, with Mikster gone, their's no one really to make sure one topic isnt being overused. TradeMan is a great owner, but he isn't really paying attention to really how much of the same product hes constantly putting out.

As for the Sydor bullshit, why don't we just add Mogilny, and Colaiacovo to the deal. Hell, why not even sundin. Either way its another stupid made up rumor that FAN590 gets the credit for.

Either way, my point is to get a guy who could become a number 1 stud on d. How about grabbing Mathieu Biron from Florida and just see what happens with some ice time.
