Grant Fuhr to become Goalie Coach

Coyotes blankdevilsmann writes "NHL.com is reporting that Grant Fuhr is now the goalie coach of the Phoenix Coyotes.

To me this sounds very good. It looks like the Yotes are trying to make a run for the cup. Well first they have to make the Playoffs, but they have had some good pickups in the off-season, including Mike Ricci who should play alongside Shane Doan.

Now with Fuhr helping out the goalies they just might have a real chance at the playoffs.

What do you guys think is going to happen?"

For years i have thought the Blachawks were the most misrun franchise in the NHL and to some extent they still are,no home tv games what the heck is that?, but i must say they have impressed me this summer.Cam Barker could very well step in right away and contribute and even if he doesnt he has a very bright future. The signings of Matthew Barnaby And Curtis Brown were excellentin that both players up the skill level of the team but more importantly bring energy and pride to the team.Jassen Cullimore is an underated blueliner who will help more then some people might expect. with the core group they have coming back, Daze if healthy, Bell,Arnason ,Ruttuu,
and some other bright young players i think for the 1st time in a number of yrs Chicago should be expected to make the playoffs instead of just hoping. The Hawks need to get a young goalie to take over for Thibault still however

I don't think adding Fuhr as a goalie coach will push phoenix into the playoffs. I think the Blackhawks have a better shot to make it in then the coyotes do. Phoenix just has too many holes to fill, including the goaltending position.

maybe he can give boucher some consistency. He can be the best goalie in the league, as we all witnessed, he just needs to keep his focus. I know how hard that is to playing goal, but with the proper tutelage boucher could be the best goalie in the NHL. He's got the size, speed, and relfexes, he just needs to know how to use em.

I agree, if he can get any one of those three guys head's stright (Boucher, Johnson, or Bierk), they have enough talent to lead the team, esspecially the first two. Consistancy would go a long way with these guys, nd having one of the best goal tenders in hiustory how it's done would definetly help.

As far as the rest of the team and it's playoff hopes, I think it really does come down to the goalies. Up front, they have just about enough talent, sans a 1st or 2nd line winger.

it may look something like:

Nagy-Langkow-Doan
Novoseltzev-Comrie-Johnson
Nash-Ricci-Cleary
Nazarov-Kolanos-Rupp

Mara-Morris
O'Donnell-Tanabe
Spiller-Hulse

Not a bad lineup at all if you ask me. They arn't cup-bound, but are still a tough young team with enough of a mix of grit, skill, youth and leadership up front and have both size and speed on D to make it rough on other teams.

Somewhat realistic signings could be:

Anson Carter: has been a bit iffy, but he played well with Comrie before, and the two might spark something again.

Teemu Selanne: for a reduced price, he might work well playing with skilled guys like Comrie, Doan and Nagy.

Teppo Numminen: I'd like to see him back with the club if possible, he would add a real stable defenceman who can work with the puck and be a great mentor for the young defence.
