| | I had planned to do one of those "rumor roundup" articles, didn't feel like it though, this was one I really wanted to talk about... I really think the Sharks are the best fit for Murray, can you imagine the best play maker in the league, alongside two of the best finnishers in the league. I love Murray, and the thought of seeing Murray with Cheechoo and Thornton is exciting! I'd love to see San Jose win the cup this year. |

| | I hope that Murray still has it and he isn't another Ekman.... Malone and Christensen won't be missed, but I had pretty high hopes for Welch. With Letang in the mix this seems to make sense from the Pens perspective. Sid needs some help on the first line. |

| | NOPE! this deal makes no sense at all for the Penguins. Glen Murray is too old. Malone is 27 and Welch still has a lot of promise. So if the Penguins would acuire Murray for a team that has, as much as it hurts to say it, not a great chance to be a legit contender it would just make the team a little bit better this year, but how does that help them four years down the road when the team is really going to be a threat? Murray will be long gone by then.... basically this doesnt make much sense at all. If shero would do this i would definitely be shocked |

| | I have looked at this in parts, and that is how I will write it:Malone helps out with 20 goals in a season, but he is still falling short of expectations after coming out of nowhere in his rookie season, therefore I agree that he is expendable. But 20 goals, especially on a team that struggles to get goals, is anything but missed.Christensen is a make or break kid. He is either going to make it and be good, or simply disappear. He has awesome offensive instincts that at times (albeit very short flashes) rival even Sidney's passing and creativity. The problem is that he only looks good at center in one of the top lines, and those positions are pretty surely taken on the Penguins, therefore he is certainly expendable. It makes great sense to trade Christensen in Shero's view. He will just have to hope he did not give up on him in the wing too early, or waited longer for him to show more magic to get better return on a trade.Welch to be traded would be a mistake in my opinion. Of all the young defensemen that the Penguins have in the NHL or up-and-coming in other leagues, Welch is without a doubt the most complete in his own end, even though he does have some great offensive traits. Dismissing the best future defensive aspect of an entire team is not a really good idea (and for a team known for the lack of good defense, even worse), unless the return is just as important and just as lasting...which ties into my last point. The Penguins need lasting goal scoring. If both Welch and Malone would be dispensed of in a trade, the trade best be made with eye on the future. And Glen Murray is not my idea of a goal scorer that can be just as effective and be with the team when a serious run for a cup materializes for Pittsburgh, of which we are as a very minimum two-three years away from. Murray is 33, and I simply do not see him lasting that long, and if he does he will not be as effective. The Penguins need a goal scorer, but they need one that will last and be around when it matters most. With those views, good players in that line would be Vanek, Afinogenov, Michalek...anyone in that line and less than 28 years of age. Murray would have to be replaced in too short of a time to justify Welch's scope for the future with the Penguins...let alone giving up what could be a career 20 goal scorer in the process. As a side-note, the Penguins are gearing up as a speed team, and Murray would not fit very well with that. Especially when they are behind and they start dump and chasing, as they usually do. In all, I hope this stays in the rumor stage. Besides, this is the first I hear Murray to the Penguins, as opposed to Murray to the Sharks which seems to have real steam, and also makes better sense for a team possibly in the brink of a cup. It would need reshuffling of lines for the Sharks, or even giving up someone from their Marleau line in the trade, but the move could be beneficial. |

| | I hate to sound harsh, but Shero would have to be out of his freaking mind to do this. They give up two NHL players for one. They get older. They get way more expensive (and $4.1 million for a guy (Murray) who only scored 2 more goals than Malone did last year seems a little disproportionately pricey, doesn't it?). They give away a potential top two or four defenseman. They get a guy who's only a career +29. Murray, um, isn't the greatest skater I've ever seen. The list goes on... Bottom line...the Pens are not a serious contender this year, with or without Murray, period. The free agent crop next summer will most likely give the Pens a chance to add a guy that's younger, more productive, faster, quite possibly cheaper, etc. than Murray is, while giving up nothing but money. With that opportunity coming up, why in your right mind would you trade part of your future away to get a guy who's not actually going to get you anywhere now, who consumes quite a bit of cap space you could be using to get a younger guy this summer, and that is too old to be any help when you do have some success? |

| | What Iam hearing on the tube from Sportsnet,TSN,and TheScore is that there can be a 3 way deal between Canucks,Bruins, and Pens. These where the names mentioned in the possible trade.
To Canucks-Murray,Ekman,and Jurcina
To Bruins-Cooke and Malone
To Pens-Morrison and Fitzpatrick
I think this trade works out for all teams it helps the Canucks out with 2nd line scoring, same with the Bruins, and Pens too I think Moe would be a nice fit with Crosby and Armstrong on the 1st line. |

| | I don't mind seeing Malone and Ekman go, but isn't Morrison a center? The Pens have too many centers as it is (Crosby, Malkin, Moore, Staal, Christensen, etc.) and I don't think they need another defenseman who doesn't seem to be delivering the goods either.
Shero if you are out there please just wait for free agency and sign a 1st line winger and a proven stay at home defenseman. We have too many "gambles" and "maybes" on the team as it is - to try to make a center a winger and add another Scuderi to the line up. I'm sure Morrison will be expensive too.
Back to the drawing board (I hope). |

I wouldnt want his slow-ass to hamper the team. id prefer Ouellet to go up at this point that Glen fracking Murray and his idiot contract. or go get Maxim Shushinsky from the Russian League to play with Malkin. |

| | to my understanding, Murray is a right winger and the Pens have plenty there with Recchi, Armstrong, and Oulette. giving up malone would be a god idea, and with the rediculous depth at center that the Pens have makes christenson expendable, but Welsh is a superb defensive player and I believe should be on the team now. He has an amaizing future and would be a good asset on the blueline to replace the likes of Cairns or Melichar or Scuderi this year. if the Pens do move Welsh, it would be for a young left winger, where they need the help. Possibly someone like Erat in Nashville or Kuelman/Earl in Toronto or even Mikhnov in Edmonton. Someone young with a good upside. I would personally like to see a deal like Malone and Eckman plus a late round pick for Kuelman and Earl. Earl impressed me last year with Wisconsion and Kuelman was Malkins linemate in the Superleague and they obviously had some chemistry. Bring the 2 back together and make Malkin more comfortable in North America and get a solid goalscorer in Earl who can stand up and protect his teammates (like Crosby).
as for the other rumor that was brought up about the Bruins, Pens, and Canucks, that is garbage. Morrisson might be willing to be moved, but he isnt that great of a player and Fitzpatrick is definately not needed for defence, so why would the Pens give up Eckman and Malone (both of which have some trade value) to get players that they dont need when other players who fit the Pens needs could be available for the same price.
and for people who hate Crosby for *****ing and moaning at the ref's and therefore hate the Pens, who cares. He is more than likely going to be the next Pens captain and he not only makes the people around him better, he cares about the teams success and is willing to do a lot for the team to win. He may overstep his bounds a bit for being a youngster, but ever since he was 15 he has been pegged as the next Great One and the greatest player to come along in the NHL for Years, so its expected that the kid has a bit of an ego, and even then not much of one. And for who is better, Crosby or Ovetchkin, it doesnt matter because both are amaizing in their own respect and are a treat to watch. So stop throwing out biased statements about who is the better player and just enjoy them, as well as all of the other amaizing youth like Kopitar, Brule, and Malkin. They all make the game exciting to watch and if you are a true hockey fan, that is enough. |
