Where will Bert go at the end of the year.
The teams Bert could end up at come the end of the year, theres a good chance he will stay with his current panthers for one more year. But they might try and move him at the deadline,i don't think any one whould go for anyone who wants to get Bert will do it at the end of the year were he will get a paycut.Teams that could get him are Leafs and the Nucks they might put an offer towards him but i think anyone who offers him 1.7mil will get him.Why would any team want Bert even with the Steve Moore thing,Bert got 71points last season and he wasn't even trying he was bringing 50% to each game if he plays the way he can he'll be a good pickup for any team.
Who wins the Fosberg sweepstakes.
Forsberg is a very good player as we all know who is injury prone, but will boost any team he joins chance of going far in the playoffs.Teams to add him are ducks, preds because they have cap, nucks and avs because he might find chemistry with friend nazzy for the avs he'll be his old team.
Most likely a 1st round pick and a mid lvl player will get him like many sources have said.If you ask yourself this question why would you want Forsberg when hes so injury prone, ill tell you why the flyers haven't won a game this season without him last i checked.
Any team who gets him will be able to make a good playoff push.
Will Smyth be an oiler at the end of the year.
Personally i think he will sign a 2year contract for 5mil the 1st year and 5.5mil the next, then the supposed 5 year contract for 5mil a year.Without Smyth the oilers won't be the same team hes the face of their franchise and i think he'll be for years to come.
All-Star format.
People aren't likeing the East vs West format and want a change for next years All-Star game i wouldn't mind achange weather it be North America vs World or Canada vs World or Stanly cup champions vs NHL ALL-STARS or other suggguestions say the stars of the NHL vs the Stars of the Europian hockey league,or maybe try the top 16 forwards and top 6 d-men and top 3 goailes to go up against a drafted team by 2 coaches wit the most points to draft a team seeing if the undedogs can beat an allstar team.
Note: The grammar is weak in this article but it could be a lot of fun. "

Re: Current events! The game is never hard hitting and is pond hockey at it's best, if that's possible. Do it in the beginning of the season.
Or better yet drop it until you fix the league. No one outside the NHL takes the NHL seriously, you have to fix the basic sport before you start spending time with a meaningless game in the middle of the season. |

But I was told that a long long time ago, the NHL used to have their all-star format set up to where the Lord Stanley Cup champions from the year before played the all star team. The all-star team was comprised of the best players from every other NHL team and the game was played in the champions home arena. Anyway, this format cant be any worse than this years game... Less than 500,000 viewed the game "on Verses Network" accross the USA. That is only 500,000 of the 350 Million residents living in America who are actually watching the silly game! At this point if nothing is changed, why even play the game next year?

If they won't be too close to the playoffs, then they will trade him for youth. I would also include the San Jose Sharks to show interest in Bert.
I think the Yotes are a possibility this summer. Don't rule out the Bruins as they'll lose Sturm and Stuart this summer.

Forsberg is a crap shoot. I think the Wings will end up acquiring him as it makes most sense for them to do so. Yet, i still think it will be a surprise team aquiring him. The Thrashers or the Islanders.
-----
I think Smyth will remain an Oiler too, simply because the Oilers cannot let him go. If the Oilers know they won't be able to re-sign him by Feb 27, and they are out of the playoffs by then, they will trade him. I think the Rangers will make a huge push to sign him in the summer. |

Take the best players from each from all the teams who are not part of the conference finals during the playoffs. Make 2 teams (east and west), and have them play a best of seven series instead of one game affair. The winning team is awarded half of what the stanley cup winning team get in terms of monutary rewards, as well as home ice advantage for the following year stanley cup final awarded to the winning conference team.
The kicker: home ice for the east: Reward the top 2 cities for attendance the previous years with a game a piece, following the same rules for the West. The 5, 6 and 7 games (if necessary), have it in a place like Las Vegas or a neutral site and build it into a spectacle where the NHL reward its fans by having a conference or the likes filled with hockey games found in TO, legends. trivia ect....thats just my two cents...
Forsberg: Will end up in the West.
Tucker: will finish the season with a cup contender, re-sign with the leafs much like Weight did last year.
Canadiens: Gainey will surprise everyone (by not getting a UFA). Gets a nother big name while keeping his 1 round pick. gets a role UFA, we see Aeisbister leave town and HALAK come up masterfully.
Biggest sellers: LA (yes, I know they Started), St-Louis and Philidelphia.

How about they throw their names into the Forsburg picture. They have no more need for a #1 pick, as they have what 4 #1's in the roster now that have yet to hit pay dirt. Also they have some mid level players to deal(i.e. Christensen, Malone...). The Pens can def use a scoring power forward to bang in goals, and to protect Crosby.
Their biggest need is Defense, but sometimes a good offense is can make up for a lack of d-man.
My concern is will he stay healthy enough to make a contribution?

OK i have told you once and i will tell you again, the Habs wont get Peter Forsberg because they dont have quality players that have the potential to bring Peter to the HAbs. One contender, who will most definaitly get Peter, is the LEAfs beacause they need him to get the LEAfs into the 4 or more goals a game era, even the record says it all, when the leafs score 3 or less goals a game, they are 2-19-4 or something like that and when they score 4 or more, they are 21-2-0, which is phenomenon since if Peter goes to the Leafs, they will definatley average 5 goals a game or even 4. That is why PEter is needed in the LEAfs nation....got it? So i think Peter will be likely seen wearing a leafs uniform, not the habs or the RAngers, and it is time for Peter Forsberg to play for a Canadian organization. |

Plus, Forsberg must lift his no-trade claus for the specific team that he is to be traded to. And he won't want to play in MTL, I don't think anyway, if he has the chance to go to a team like Detroit, where him and Hasek can make one last go at it.

So as of now, he is not going to be traded anywhere. And it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he ended up staying in Philadelphia.
Secondly, would you really want to trade a 1st round pick and a mid level player for him? There is no way on earth I would do that. Forsberg could very well play one game and be done for the year. A conditional pick and a mid level player is about all I would give for him right now. He is getting over a foot injury right now...and a trade really depends on that. Right now, I will take a pass on him. Simply too big of a risk. As a Rangers fan, I keep having bad flashbacks to the Eric Lindros trade, when thinking about Forsberg. At the time, it was an understandable trade...but in the end, the Rangers did not get what they needed. Any team that trades for Forsberg runs this big risk as well.
I'm not sure how playing under the microscope in Toronto would help Bertuzzi's game. And the price for bringing him to the Leafs is not going to be cheap.
I'm not in favor of changing the All Star format right now. It was recently just changed back to East vs. West, from the World vs. North America format. If you keep changing it year after year, it just loses the casual hockey fan...and the All Star game is in part designed to be easily accessible to the casual sports fan to draw them in. I say stick with it for a while. At least give it a chance to catch on again. if it doesn't excite anyone in a few years, maybe talk about changing it up. But there are only so many changes you can make to an All Star game without making it too gimmicky. |

As for the All Star game.... East vs West is what its all about. The TV ratings are down not because of the format... its because of the poor market that is the NHL in the states (not getting into that) I seriously doubt that people said "HEY NHL all star game... but.... wait... its East vs West... forget it...what else is on"

What player who plays in the NHL doesn't want to win? .......................................................... Point proven.
Also if Forsberg does go anywhere realistically he'll most likely want to go to teams that have a serious shot at the cup. Teams like Anahiem, Nashville, and one that nobody mentions but DETROIT. These three teams have a serious shot at making the cup finals. Anahiem has two of the top three deffensemen in the game.(Lidstrom being the other) They also have Selanne( Yeah, I guess he's good too). The Preds have a bunch of talented players such as Dumont, Legwand, Arnott, Sullivan, Kayria and Adding Forsberg would almost certainly make this team the cup favorites if they aren't already. Lastly people have to give Detroit a serious look. They've had one of the hottest first lines since december when Datsyuk/Zetterberg/Holmstrom started playing together. Adding Forsberg to the second line is what most teams call crazy unless you live in Colorado and seen it before.
Also, someone begged the question why would a team give up so much for a talented but very injury prone player like Forsberg who seems to be on the last few good years of his career? Well thats simple. First off the Flyers haven't won a game without him this year. YIKES! Ok, so what could be just a fluke, Well Gagne scored almost 50 goals last season (47) and if you did a rough estimation Forsberg assisted about 70% of those goals or had something to do with him scoring. Also last year Gagne had 79 points which was a major boost in production from previous years where he average roughly around 50 points per season(Five pervious seasons). In one year Gagne production went up almost 15% which is almost unheard of around the league. Gagne can really thank his PHAT contract too Forsberg who Gagne feed off of like a parasite. Not to mention that when Forsberg returned to the Av's during the playoffs in the 01-02 season he almost literally took the Av's on his back and got them through the first two rounds only to fall in the third vs the redwings that also went to seven games, While the redwings boasted one of the most talented teams maybe to ever hit the ice. The reason I want Forsberg on my team right now, which is the Detroit redwings, is because of the simple fact he can totally take over a game an the momentum in a game at any given moment during the game. Not to mention that this is the playoffs and Forsbergs Known to have good playoff numbers. ALso the wings could get him a price they'd be willing to pay, " Rumor has it that Hudler, Fillipua(spelling), and J.Willams would be sent the other way. Which is a very extremely good deal for the Flyers as all those players have the poteintal to put up some recognizable numbers. Willams posted over 20 goals last season. Fillipua(spelling) was said to remind Wings management of Zetterberg (who ironically was suppose to be the next Forsberg?) Also Forsberg would just be a rent'a'player type and most likely leave after the season is over and hopefully took the wings deep in the playoffs if not all the way to the finals and maybe even winning. The game is played to win. I know the NHL is also a business but if a team has some sort of legitament shot of winning by adding one player and not giving up the other major pieces to the puzzel then I stand for the belife in one has to persue the trade, or player. Plus the redwings PP would look sick with Datsyuk/Forsberg/Zetterberg and most likely Lidstrom / Schinder or Kronwall posted on the blueline. Sick sick sick. |
