 | Niedermayer rejoining the Ducks |
leafy writes "TSN.ca and Sportsnet.ca are reporting that the Anaheim Ducks have announced the return of Scott Niedermayer to the team for the remainder of the season.
Executive Vice President and General manager of the Anaheim Ducks Brian Burke made the announcement Wednesday evening prior to the Ducks game against the Sabres at the Honda Center The return of the Ducks' Captain would provide a huge boost to a team that has struggled to stay afloat in the Western Conference. Re: Niedermayer rejoining the Ducks (Score: 1) by KingCanada on Wednesday, December 05 (User Info | Send a Message) | With Nieds coming back that will put the Ducks about 500k over the cap, i wonder if Burke will have to do any tweaking to the roster or maybe he will just send someone down to the farm and that will be it.
Good for the Ducks! I dont think the Finnish Flash is coming back tho. First off theres no space for him and secondly nobody has heard from the guy in forever.
This will definatly boost them up in the standings, how jealous i am of their defensive corp...

Don't forget, Corey Perry's still an RFA at year's end and will surely get something in the 2.5-4.5 million dollar range. |

If it's only 500k then all the roster really will need is a minor tweak that Burke shouldn't have much trouble doing... It's a wonder he hasn't done something already. There is lot's of talk about a possible Marchant move. |

With Neids returning the Ducks are in big trouble cap wise for next season since they are already over the cap this year and they DO NOT loose any significant UFAs
The Ducks have SEVEN RFAs to sign (Corey Perry, Drew Miller, Brian Sutherby, Ryan Carter, Jason King, Max Kondratiev, Jonas Hiller).
I believe its safe to say that Anaheim yet again will be the target of Offer Sheets and will not look to keep all its RFAs. I think they will let King and Kondratiev walk and then try and sign the rest who will mostly all try and get a raise, Perry especially. |
