Hockey is the game canadians can't seem to get enough of. It's like an addiction similar to playing the spin palace casino games. But most importantly it is down to the loyalty as a fellow canadian to follow the country's number 1 sport!

HTR Feature Article: NHL arena coming to Seattle?
Yahoo sports is reporting It was only three years ago that Kevin Durant and the rest of the Seattle SuperSonics folded up their green-and-gold uniforms for good and moved to Oklahoma City. Now word comes that there are plans for an arena to be built in a Seattle suburb that could house an NHL team, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports. The main focus of the plan is to try and lure an NHL team to Seattle, the online newspaper reports.

Brian Burke said an offer sheet for restricted free agents is not out of the question in the future. Which begs a further question: Would Burke considering jumping in on the best of the restricted players — Steven Stamkos, Shea Weber, Zach Parise, Keith Yandle, Zach Bogosian?

HTR Feature Article: Bruins left with a sick feeling
Bruins president Cam Neely stood facing the freight-elevator doors on the ninth floor of TD Garden, probably 20 reporters sardined in behind him. There had been plenty of idle chatter as the press-gallery security guard awaited Neely's arrival. And when the idolized former Bruins destroyer stepped aboard and the doors closed for the sixstorey trip to ice level, there was silence.

HTR Feature Article: Wilson will be back
It shouldn’t come as a surprise for anyone following the Toronto Maple Leafs in great detail: Head coach Ron Wilson isn’t going anywhere – even if his team misses the NHL postseason for a third year in a row. General manager Brian Burke confirmed as much Wednesday, saying Wilson has “done a marvellous job” and would remain behind the bench for 2011-12.

HTR Feature Article: Burke must make a Sundin/Gilmour type impact trade.
The-President writes "Remember the days of having a true bonafide 1st line center, one that was a reliable point per game player or better. Remember the trades that brought in Gilmour, and Sundin. Players that some may consider Franchise players, or pretty close to it, players that were able to carry a team on there backs, and actually make an impact. This is exactly what the Leafs are in need of, Richards is not the answer, here's the player Burke must target in the off-season."

HTR Feature Article: The Big Free Agent The Leafs Must Chase
James Reimer has had a terrific little run. He stepped into the breach when the Leafs needed somebody - anybody - who could stop the puck with consistency, and turned the club from a team wallowing in the depths of the Eastern Conference into a squad that has at least been able to make the final weeks of the season interesting. It's clear Reimer has a chance to be a good NHL goalie, or maybe more.

Barry Jackson covered the Panthers for me today because of a weird traveling quirk. Mr. Jackson spoke to Tomas Vokoun at length today about his potential future with the Panthers. He said he gave the Panthers three teams he would waive his no-movement clause to. They never asked him to.

Leafs trade rumour of the day features Ryan Getzlaf When Ducks GM Bob Murray announced a month ago that everyone on his team, excluding veterans Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne, could be traded, it opened the floodgates for rumours involving his team’s Big Three: forwards Ryan Getzlaf, Bobby Ryan and Corey Perry. It also lit a blazing fire a under the Ducks, who have recorded a 9-1-1 mark since the comments were made. With his club now 10 points out of a playoff spot, Murray may yet change his mind but speculation remains that the Ducks will be sellers as the NHL trade deadline nears. Leafs stalked by trade rumours In one corner of the Maple Leafs dressing room on Monday afternoon, Mikhail Grabovski was addressing trade rumours. In another corner, Clarke MacArthur had just stopped doing the same. Nearly a month has to pass before the NHL's trade deadline comes on Feb. 27, but with the all-star break finished, speculation will start to thicken in earnest. Mikhail Grabovski brushes aside trade speculation That is a lot of time, and there are a lot of seats in the dressing room. On Monday, as the team returned from the all-star break, the hottest seat belonged to Mikhail Grabovski, the centre who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. “You know, I think it’s more about you guys — not me,” he said of speculation he might become a bargaining chip in the trade market. “I think more about hockey than about my future. I know if I play well, I can stay with the same team.” | |
