 | Forsberg to return to the NHL? Drury to the Avs? |
ncAvalanche21 writes "According to Adrian Dater of the Denver Post, Peter Forsberg has set his eyes on returning to the NHL yet again. Foppa has a home in the Denver area and has a girlfriend who is attending a college there as well, so it's very much safe to say that Forsberg will sign with the Avalanche, and it's no secret that Forsberg loves Colorado.
But this won't happen until some time after New Year's.
He recently had another foot surgery and is planning a full-scale test on it. Apparently, this last surgery has made his foot feel amazing. Forsberg stated that if it does not work out, that this will be it. He will retire.
Adrian Dater also had this to say about a possible Drury trade:
"Things could start happening real soon around the Avs and other NHL teams when it comes to some dealing. The NHL startes a trade freeze from Dec. 19-27, so don’t be surprised at a few deals going down before then. Here’s one thing I’m hearing from people in the know: The Rangers are so intent on getting Mats Sundin that they may well trade Chris Drury to make room. The Rangers will need to clear some significant salary to allow for Mats’ inclusion, and Drury has three more years and $21.5 million left on his contract after this season. But he also has a no-movement clause to his deal, meaning any kind of trade or demotion to the minors or put through the waiver wire would need his approval first. The thing about no-trade clauses is, though: Once a player realizes a team wants to trade him, they almost always waive it, provided they get to go to a place they want. Nobody wants to stay around on a team that really would rather trade him. And if Drury allowed himself to be sent though waivers first and then traded to another team, the Rangers can get half of his salary off their books. The team getting Drury not only gets him, but much of his salary paid by someone else. Drury’s cap-average hit to a payroll, however, is $7.050 million. The Avs have roughly five million in cap space right now - partly because of Joe Sakic’s long-term injury. So maybe if you get a Drury to waive his no-movement clause to come to Colorado and get the Rangers to pay half his salary this year after going through re-entry waivers, you could fit him in - although you’d probably have to move more salary too. Of the few teams Drury would consider playing for, I’m sure the Avs would be one of them. He always liked Denver and won a Cup here. I’ve heard San Jose would want him bad though, too. But maybe if you’re Francois Giguere and looking to not only bolster your second line a lot better, and make a nice news splash, you make a real run at Drury. Maybe you sell off some other assets to help ease the payroll too. Ruslan Salei and/or Brett Clark, anyone? Salei being a healthy scratch in Philly definitely got some conspiracy theorists going about him."-denverpost.com

Re: Forsberg to return to the NHL? Drury to the Avs? (Score: 1) by Kramer on Wednesday, December 17 (User Info | Send a Message) | | I got a friend in New York who knows Drury. Maybe not personally, but he's seen him on TV. Well he knows for a fact Drury wants to play in Colorado, but prefers the food in New York way more so he's gonna stay put. |

He grew up in New York, That would be a real mess of the Rangers to move Gomez or Drury... I mean Colorado is the only other place i could see him going... but I doubt this rumor

Re: Forsberg to return to the NHL? Drury to the Avs? (Score: 1) by pezzz on Wednesday, December 17 (User Info | Send a Message) | Instead of Drury, I think the Avs should look to add a bonafide 1rst line player. They got a lot of 2nd line players (Smyth, Hejduk, Wolski, Svatos) and 3rd line players (Guite, Lapperiere, Hensick, Jones, Tucker) but beside Stastny, they got no one who really belongs on the 1rst line. I think they should try go get a real 1rst line sniper ala Gaborik or Kovalchuk to compliment Stastny's stellar playmaking abilities. Gaborik is unlikely because they're in the same division (although Colorado already traded with Calgary), and Kovalchuk will maybe cost too much, but they should really try to trade for a true 1rst line sniper. Maybe Havlat? but they don't need another injury prone player lol, right? Could they make an offer for Heatley? unlikely, but we never know. Cheechoo perhaps? or they could use another big body in front of the net. read : Antropov.
so here's a couple trade proposals :
To Colorado : Ilya Kovalchuk, Kari Lehtonen, Niclas Havelid To Atlanta : Brett Clark, Wojtek Wolski, Codey Burki, 1rst rounder 2009, Peter Budaj, 1rst rounder 2010, 2nd rounder 2010
I know it's a lot of variables. lol.
To Colorado : Martin Havlat, Brent Sopel To Chicago : Tyler Arnason, Brett Clark, 2nd rounder 09
To Colorado : Jonathan Cheechoo To San Jose : Marek Svatos, 2nd rounder 09
To Colorado : Dany Heatley To Ottawa : Brett Clark, Wojtek Wolski, TJ Hensick, Codey Burki, 1rst rounder 09
To Colorado : Nikolai Antropov To Toronto : Codey Burki, 2nd rounder 09 |

Re: Forsberg to return to the NHL? Drury to the Avs? (Score: 1) by KingCanada on Wednesday, December 17 (User Info | Send a Message) | OMG buddy, I understand ur reporting a rumor but think logically. Do u REALLY think that the Rangers would want to pay Drury 3.5 million for the next 4 years just to have a SLIGHT upgrade from Drury to Sundin for what HALF a season?? Instead of thinking up possibilities u should look up the word "likelihood" then incorporate it in what your writting along with a source, thanks.
Any GM in the league would get fired for pulling a stunt like that. Isnt Drury like the CAPTAIN of the Rangers?? If Drury is moved its for the full amount...
Im sorry if Im being a jerk, I just really disliked ur thought process on the second half of ur post. |
