GM: Niedermayer will retire with Ducks

Ducks Scott Niedermayer - 2 - Ducks - Icon SMI

POST STAFF REPORT

Following comments from Scott Niedermayer that he could be traded back to the Devils, Ducks GM Bob Murray told the Los Angeles Times that will not happen.

"He's going to retire a Duck when he chooses to retire," Murray said.

In town this week to play the Devils, Niedermayer told NJ.com that a trade was a possibility. The defenseman, 36, played the first 12 years of his career with the Devils before leaving in 2005 to join Anaheim and play with his brother Rob.

Rob Niedermayer signed with the Devils this season as a free agent.

The Ducks are last in the Western Conference, leading to speculation they may be active before the March 3 trade deadline. Scott Niedermayer's one-year contract does not include a no-trade clause.

Completely off topic but im watching the leafs game right now and during the intermission they were talking about headshots and at the end of the disscusion they were saying the league is thinking of making it so on the forecheck you will have to play the puck and be penelized (thats what i got from it) if you hit the player instead.

My response was the same as the guy that responded first, whyt not just play flag hockey instead and change football ionto the same thing and play flag football.

This sounds like the dumbest thing the NHL has thought of, and from what ive seen theyve thought of some dumb things
