INTEREST INTENSIFIES IN SUTTON, ROLOSON
Should Garth Snow decide to cash in his team’s two biggest veteran trading chips, he won’t be without options. Point Blank has learned that several teams are preparing offers to the Islanders for Andy Sutton and Dwayne Roloson.
Tavares Era Begins
The New York Islanders have not won a playoff series in 16 years and have been a rather futile franchise with mismanagement, constant coaching changes and ownership issues.
But all that seems to be forgotten with the addition of 1st overall pick John Tavares. It is now his time, his team and his era and the Islanders are hoping that brings some renewed promise and hope to a team that has struggled for almost 2 decades.
Can Tavares bring change to the Island?
Now that John Tavares is wearing the orange and blue what changes are in store for the Isles?
July 1st is right around the bend and the isles first off need a backup goalie. Being a backup behind DiPietro means a lot of ice time so I don't think they will have a problem finding a good backup. More than likely who ever we get as a backup is going to be our #1 guy. I have a feeling DP might not ever recover from his knee and hip surgeries.
First Pick Is First Step To The Future
Now that it is official and the NY Islanders have won the 1st overall pick in the 2009 draft, the rebuilding process of the franchise can begin in earnest. The team began the process a bit last season adding numerous draft picks to the cupboard, its here, with the chance to select a potential young franchise player, that will be the key to take the organization to the next level.
Snow says no !!!
Sorry Leaf fans, According to a Newsday blog, the Isles are not likely to move their pick.
When he was asked today about Burke's offer, Snow said, "I'm not going to comment on the conversation I had with another manager. But I'm not inclined to move the pick."
He'll take Tavares!!!
Islanders to me moved?
The Toronto Star is reporting that "Forget the Phoenix Coyotes, the Nashville Predators or any of the other NHL teams in the American Sunbelt: the next team to move just might be the New York Islanders, with their most likely destination being Kansas City."
Guerin on the move?
Accordin to TSN, Bill Guerin was pulled from the New York Islanders lineup just after the warm-up.
A somewhat bizzare chain of events occurred tonight involving New York Islanders forward Bill Guerin.
Guerin was pulled from the Islanders' lineup after the warmup, just prior to this evening's game against the Buffalo Sabres.
Islanders firesale to begin soon
The Daily News is reporting that the Islanders are very likely to be “sellers for the cellar.” Some of the names that are likely to be on the move include Bill Guerin, Doug Weight, Andy Hilbert, Dean McAmmond, Brendan Witt and Radek Martinek.
