LOTS OF EX-LEAFS UNSIGNED

What do Tomas Kaberle, Ian White, Carlo Colaiacovo and Hal Gill have in common, other than the fact they played on the Maple Leafs defence together for two seasons from 2006-08?

All don’t know where, or if, they will be playing National Hockey League this season.

NHL rumors: Teams still interested in signing Tim Thomas

Since it was revealed that Tim Thomas told his agent he was interested in making a return to the NHL next season, it’s been pretty much all quiet on the ‘tender’s front.

If you have been keeping score at home you would know that at this point there are hardly any teams still in the need for a No. 2 goalie, let alone a No. 1. A simple guess would say there’s really nowhere left for Thomas to sign as noted by Al Muir of SI.

But hope is not lost yet for Thomas. According to Jimmy Murphy of ESPN Boston, there still is interest in Thomas but first things first.

Thomas still without team

Bill Zito, agent for Tim Thomas, let it be known prior to the June 30 draft that Thomas evinced some interest in returning to the game for the upcoming season. Some three weeks later, still no takers for Thomas, who will turn 40 as the playoffs begin next spring.

NHL rumour roundup: Grabovski, Ducks a fit?

Here is a brief rundown of the latest UFA buzz:

Here’s a thought floating around on Twitter: Mikhail Grabovski to the Anaheim Ducks. The Ducks’ highest-profile agent, Brian Burke, was of course the hockey man so high on Grabo’s talents that the former Maple Leafs shot-caller inked him to a contract cumbersome enough that current Leafs GM Dave Nonis decided to buy it out. Anaheim is looking to upgrade its second-line centre.

‘Several’ teams after Mikhail Grabovski: agent

While “several” NHL teams have shown an interest in Mikhail Grabovski, the just-married centre remains in no hurry to decide his fate, according to his agent.

“I have several teams talking to Grabovksi,” said agent Gary Greenstin. “We’ll see what direction we go.

“He’s not worried.”

Milan Hejduk could play with another NHL team besides Colorado

Hard as it is to picture, it is possible Colorado Avalanche fans will see Milan Hejduk playing in another NHL uniform next season.

Here are the best of remaining free agents:

As the dust settles, we look at who remains without a contract. Here are the best of remaining free agents:

Detroit Red Wings free agency: Daniel Cleary likely to return

Cleary remains likely to return, at a rate of around $2.5 million to $2.75 million per for three years, but the Wings need to get someone off their roster of forwards, first. Alfredsson and Weiss have put Detroit at 14 forwards, a number that will grow by two when restricted free agents Joakim Andersson and Gustav Nyquist get new deals.

Jaromir Jagr talking to Montreal Canadiens

We know that Jaromir Jagr is going to play in the NHL during the 2013-14 season, we just don’t know where.

One team that seems to be emerging as a favorite, at least in Jagr’s eyes, is the Montreal Canadiens.

Several teams interested in Grabovski: Agent

While Grabovski was not snapped up during rush hour of Friday’s free agency and is still available as of Sunday, Gary Greenstin says that is partly because he and the player are fielding multiple offers. “I never comment on negotiations, but several teams are interested,” Greenstin said Saturday.

Asked if that meant, say, three, four or five, Greenstin repeated “several.”
