The Latest Rumors from the Ottawa Sun
Mike Ziesberger from the Ottawa Sun breaks down the latest rumors (mostly the ones that we have heard about before) but also provides some new tidbits about other players who could be moved.
One of the first things that it’s mentioned is that it does not appear that the Wings will acquire a goalie for the stretch as Osgood is likely to return to form.
It is noted that the Blues are “making it difficult on themselves when it comes to Tkachuk. After defeating the Dallas Stars 3-1 Thursday, the Blues were three points back of a playoff spot and might want to keep Tkachuk for post-season run … Blues would like to deal defenceman Jay McKee, but his $4 million US salary makes that difficult.”
HTR notes that some of the large salaries that teams have handed out in the pasty are starting to come back to haunt teams. McKee is a classic example. In past years teams may have lined up for a player of his caliber for the playoff drive but now tams have to manage their cap very carefully.
It is also reported that the Oilers may be looking at the likes of Kovalev or Tim Connoly. It is well known that the Oilers covet a top 6 forward.
In Tampa Bay players such as “Mark Recchi, Marek Malik and Vinny Prospal could be available.” HTR feels that Prospal could be a good addition to any team at the right price and finally “Ottawa Senators GM Bryan Murray is expected to try to move defenceman Filip Kuba and right winger Chris Neil.”
